Shelby Swink, a 23-year-old bride from Tennessee, could just have had a pity party after her fiance told her he was not in love and didn’t want to marry her. Instead, she decided she was not going to feel depressed and had this amazing idea.
She met him at the university in 2011 and in 2014 they got engaged. The wedding was planeed for November 2014.
She spent a lot of time planning everything because she wanted the wedding to be perfect.
One week after the wedding, Swink’s fiance told her he wasn’t in love with her, didn’t want to get married, and didn’t want to spend the rest of his life with her.
Suddenly, her dream of getting married to the man of her life and having his children, vanished.
She was shocked and didn’t know what to do. The following days she had to make tons of calls to cancel everything.
Swink said she’s lucky for the family and friends she has.
A day of compassion was exactly what she didn’t want.
Photographer Elizabeth Hoard suggested to do this photoshoot to destroy her dress but in a funny and colorful way.
At the beginning she thought it was a crazy thing to do, but then realized it was a perfect idea. After all, it was just a dress, something material.
November 1 was supposed to be a funny day with friends and family, ans she didn’t want her fiance’s decision to take that away from her.
Her parents participated too.
And gave her their support 100%.
Her father even bought cigars and champagne.
Her maids of honor were there too.
She said the moment the paint touched her dress, she had a feeling of relief from pain.
Despite of what happened to her, she remains positive and hopeful.
She decided to stand up and face the situation instead of letting it destroy her.
She thanks her ex for freeing her from a future full of pain, and for pushing her and letting her realize how strong she can be…
For teaching her no one can take her happiness away, and for letting her go so she can finf the real love of her life.
What this woman did is deeply inspiring and brave. What do you think?
